Pacquiao: "The business is done"
I just arrived from Glorietta where I watched the live feed of Pacquiao vs. Marquez. It was an epic match that could go either way. But in the end, Pacquaio triumphs via a split decision.
I honestly thought Pacquiao would lose. He started very tentative, and despite the 3rd round knockdown, Marquez was able to battle back. Pacquiao suffered a cut in his left eye and Marquez wasted no time is pushing that advantage. As Manny took head shots, I was dreading a knockout. But Manny fought back. Before long, Marquez was bleeding just as badly.
Personally I am not overwhelmingly convinced that our Filipino boy won. The match was tight. There were a number of rounds which could have gone to either fighter. I was already expecting the worst.
The ring announcer read the results. Split decision, he said. One judge gave the match to Marquez. The next judge gave it to Pacquiao. The whole theater was silent, holding their breaths, and, just as the announcer spoke the words "...and the NEW...," the crowd erupted in ecstatic applause.
It was a great match, though. Both fighters went toe to toe. They slugged, they counter-punched, they bobbed and they weaved, and they took their smacks. None backed down. None gave up. Both played the aggressor and the defender. I believe that this match will go down in history as one of the greatest fights of all time.

cant wait for the pacquiao v. oscar dela hoya if it materializes. this will be the real fight.
great fight. didn't know who won until the judge said so
A rematch is defenitely warranted, For USD$ 6,000,000.00 offered by Golden Boy Promotions..Go for it Pacman
It was a great fight indeed. Neither fighter giving up. I was a bit skeptical though of how Manny looked during the weighin. He looked really weak and dry. I thought Manny will be in trouble come fight night. Maybe this was the reason why he was not his SUPER agressive self during the encounter. During the fight (was watching on justing.tv with my crappy connection), all I can see was JMM connecting. I didn't even see JMM was cut and when it was anounced that Manny won, I thought hmmm parang luto hehehe. But when I watched it again (downloaded the fight), I think the fight could have gone either way. JMM is one hell of a technical fighter but Manny is really the stronger fighter. Though JMM landed more punches (compubox stats), Manny landed the harder punches and he brought the action in the fight. If JMM was more agressive than Manny, like he did in a few rounds when he attacked (rather than waiting for Manny to attack most of the time...counter puncher kasi), he could have won hands down.
It was a great fight, one for the ages. No matter how stressful it is to watch (was the edge of my seat the whole fight), I hope there would be a third one.
Is it me or did I just miss something from that fight? Granted, it was toe to toe from the 2nd round and on, but I must say that the fight left me expecting/wanting more. I felt that Manny was tentative for a good portion of the fight. Kinda reminds me of how Barrera fought Manny during their rematch. What I love about him is his energy, the amount of fight he brings to the ring everytime he steps in it is amazing. Sadly, I really felt that he became a tactical boxer, not the puncher and energizer bunny that I have grown to love and enjoy. Just my two cents.
Now that the fight has finished and blood has spilt in the name of Glory and Country. Here comes the "Political Vampires" out to suck our hero dry for whatever benefit they can get out of him. Poor Pacquiao.
how can you say that political vampires are after pacman? just look at who was raising his hands after the fight (Noli De Castro and Chavit Singson) and who sang the national anthem (Ms. Sotto). There's absolutely no signs of politicians at work here. HEHEHE. kind of early for 2010 campaigns to begin....
I've watched it over youtube. They misspelled the Ciara Sotto's name :D
ciara sotto got into the ring to sing the national anthem. she is already based in las vegas and has the voice to render the national anthem well. i don't know what excuse the others had for getting into the ring afterwards, glory by proximity perhaps? there certainly wasn't a dummy grenade to be dealt with by the dummy that wanted to be in the limelight again.
'tangina, ngayon ko lang nalaman 'to ah.
it was a really great fight. i personally was not convinced that Pacman won it but i'm glad he did. i guess its vindication for the controversial draw he got the first time they met. he's been fearless in facing the top opposition in his class and it's about time he won a title.
Best line to describe that fight "A win is a win"...
It was a good fight, wasn' t it? Put masks on both of them, switch their trunk colors, call them Boxer Green and Boxer Yellow - just forget who their identities and watch the fight for what it is.
It was a very good fight.
Not just a good fight but a great fight!
I would want a rematch but I don't think I can stand the stress....
