Bashful about genitalia

I go to the gym whenever I can---early morning (especially when I am "coding"), lunchtime, or after work.  I go to the gym even when I travel.  And there is one thing I notice---Filipino men are bashful about their genitalia.

I wonder why.

This is how it goes.  Filipino men, after working out, when they strip their gym clothing to go for a shower, they wrap a tower around their waists and then pull down their underwear.  After the shower, as they dress up, they again put on their underwear while still having a tower wrapped around their waist.  In many other countries, men are not as timid.  Going to the shower, they strip naked.  As they dress up, they remove their towels.

I am one of those Filipinos who have no reservations in letting my manhood flop around in all its glory.  I do it, not because I have anything to be proud of, but rather because mine is rather ordinary.  What's the big deal anyway about men's genitalia?  Are some people afraid that they don't measure up?  What impression are they trying to avoid in a locker room?

"Hey, I saw locker 256's little fireman.  Man, it's shriveled and crooked!  At least mine is just discolored on the tip."

Who the fuck cares that Pinoy men are shy about their privates in the locker room. Pinoy men aren't brought up that way. It's what makes us different from say the Americans or Europeans. Is there a rule that we should be totally uninhibited in the locker room with our dicks out in the open? I don't think so. Most pinays are also uncomfortable disrobing in front of a doctor during their physicals. I find it uncomfortable walking around stark naked in a roomful of other naked men. If it's a roomful of naked women now that's a different story.

If I had the power to go back in time, I would stop myself from getting circumsized.

There are too many nerve endings in the foreskin, that it actually makes sex feel 'incomplete' to most.

filipinos are that way probably because of our "conservative" culture towards anything sexual.  When we were young we were made to feel by our elders that sex is dirty and bad which we would eventually bring into our adulthood and attitude.

Over time I got used to walking around naked in spas offering body-wash that are open plan or going into a common room full of men for a massage. Now quite often at either of forementioned places, my cock is erect.........not at the sight of other cocks on display I might add but the effects of the attention I'm receiving

I have read the other responses and fear I could be out of line, but with regard to Filipino men.   Well it could be they are shy about their small dicks, but then they are shy in front of each other too.

It’s an interesting point that they are not shy to pull their dicks out in most public places and piss anywhere so why suddenly shy in locker rooms…

I notice they do seem to cover themselves more at the urinals.  Why the concern that some other guy might see their ugly little dicks.  Beats me!

I did say ugly and that was intentional.   I have seen a lot more pinoy dicks that I would ever want to  (anything above zero is too many for me)  and they are ugly.   WHY?

Circumcision is a big thing in the Philippines and its often done in early adolescence or around puberty.  I don’t know anything about circumcision but I have noticed that often the pinoy dicks have ugly excess skin hanging around the base of the knob.   Looks like its done with a old blunt knife.   Not a clean surgical looking circumcision as you would see in the west.    This is common.   No idea why.

I am not circumcised so according to Filipinos I can not have babies.   Tell that to the mothers of my children.

I will add that I have been an active nudist in the past.

not very many Filipinos have the 'German' cut when circumcised. i'ts where the foreskin is completely removed...

"I did say ugly and that was intentional.   I have seen a lot more pinoy dicks that I would ever want to  (anything above zero is too many for me)  and they are ugly.   WHY? "

What I'm wondering is, unless you're a doctor, why on earth would you know in detail how pinoy dicks would look like...

"but I have noticed that often the pinoy dicks have ugly excess skin hanging around the base of the knob...This is common"

So you noticed? So you actually check them out...I see...  Now we know why you were an active nudist.

"I notice they do seem to cover themselves more at the urinals.  Why the concern that some other guy might see their ugly little dicks.  Beats me! "

Gee, I don't know..maybe they cover themselves so guys like you wouldn't start staring at them...Now we know why you were an active nudist.

Now's about the time to claim you're a doctor

I felt shy about locker room nudity in grade school. It's a good thing I had my circumcision the summer before starting high school. The pool we used for Phys Ed had no shower stalls, just a long row of shower heads along the wall. Some of my batchmates were shy throughout wearing their trunks while showering, eventually the rest of us just went about our business. There wasn't much to compare since the pool water was usually cold so any jumbo hotdogs were reduced to almost uniform vienna suasage tidbits haha. Our female batchmates said noneof them showered naked. Bummer hahaha, they have more hang-ups than males.

Entering college, everybody had to strip down for the physical exam. Up to 50 guys at a time were in the waiting room before going up to 2 or 3 docs who would conduct short arm inspection and have us bend over, no curtained-off areas for anything. Everybody not from our high school were holding their medical jackets (folders) in front of their crotches. It was an interesting sociological learning experience, major traumatic culture shock for a lot! The girls got to wear hospital gowns in the waiting room but there were only standing curtains in the changing area and these were not closed off, if you really must know, again courtesy of our female high school batchmates.

Most Asian and European cultures don't have nudity taboos in shared spaces like locker rooms or bath houses. Some pools require nudity for hygienic purposes as do all Japanese baths. Educated Japanese men anyway know it's not what you have but how it's used. Read "The Perfumed Garden" for enlightenment, it's a really old text more explicitly descriptive than the Kama Sutra.

I have been to U.K. and used to go to gym there. I noticed that most of the people would get fully naked while changing. They would just walk around the locker room naked and at first I felt uncomfortable about it. I myself tried a couple of times but it felt very weird for me to be naked in front of strangers. Though I am not a very shy person but it was not my cup of tea. I am not sure whether people stared at me but if there was no problem of homesexuality as such. May be sometime later I will give it another shot

i think its really a combination of fear of not measuring up vs. other people's things (admit it or not, most of us prefer to believe we are above-average in size and wouldn't want to be waken into reality) and fear of homosexuals.

Well, I believe we Filipinos are just shy because we were brought up that way..to keep our privates private.  It's not lack of pride...nor is it shame.

But nowadays, there's a real reason... the fear of roaming homosexuals...

I would agree. Nowadays, there's really no sure way to tell if someone is homosexual. And the gym has becoming a hunting ground for some.

And sometimes, it'll be too late when you do find out..lol

So what if there are homosexuals?  It's not that I will succumb to their charms.....

lol..it's not about that

hmm.. so you won't get hassled if say, because you're naked in the dressing room gay guys stare at you?...in a dirty way?...or after staring and thinking that since you're allowing him/it to stare, it would be ok for it to approach you so it does?...then when it approaches you it'll flirt with you?

At the end of the day, as long as you didn't let it touch you or succumb to their charms as you put it, it's not bad or wrong...it's just really really really uncomfortable and annoying

I'm not saying all homosexuals are maniacs, but a bunch of them are, so it's better to be on the safe side.  I mean, even if guys don't strip in the dressing room, there would be those that would still ogle...what more if you strip.

Id just like to add, even if gay guys prefer men.... they still have the same appetite and drive as straight guys.

so as not to be  OT:

My shyness about being naked is partly due to how I was raised and my own low physical self esteem. The fear of being laughed is unbearable to some.

I have been to Korean and Japanese Spa's in the country. I also noticed that all the customers there a fully naked. The Japanese and the Koreans (old and very old one's) are just walking around the locker room naked at first I felt uncomfortable about it but in the end nasanay na din ako.

It just felt weird being naked in front of strangers...
